32The legal expert said to him, “Well said, Teacher. You have truthfully said that God is one and there is no other besides him. 33And to love God with all of the heart, a full understanding, and all of one’s strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself is much more important than all kinds of entirely burned offerings and sacrifices.”
34When Jesus saw that he had answered with wisdom, he said to him, “You aren’t far from God’s kingdom.” After that, no one dared to ask him any more questions.

In October we remember Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I am reading and reflecting on both my experiences and the thoughts of others about domestic violence during this month. This action is important to me as a survivor of domestic violence.

The above scripture is from the Revised Common Lectionary for next Sunday. Yesterday we read another version of this story about Jesus from the book of Matthew. In this version, a person responds to Jesus and Jesus praises his response. The person understands that his actions and his faith must work together.

Domestic violence is a problem for people who do not live with integrity with their actions. It is not possible for a Christian to separate the actions of their fists from the words of their mouths. It is not possible for a Christian to separate the evil words of their mouths from the fruits of their hearts and souls.

If you haven’t stopped to think about how your actions fit with this teaching, it’s important to consider changing. Domestic violence is not a good thing for a Christian to engage in. The people closest to you are the people Christ loves.

En Octubre recordamos el mes de concientización sobre la violencia doméstica. Estoy leyendo y reflexionando sobre ambas mis experiencias y los pensamientos de otra sobre violencia doméstica durante este mes. Esta acción es importante para mi como un sobreviviente de violencia doméstica.

La escritura de arriba es del Leccionario Común Revisado para el próximo domingo. Ayer leímos otra versión de esta historia sobre Jesús en el libro de Mateo. En esta versión, una persona responde a Jesús y Jesús elogia su respuesta. La persona comprende que sus acciones y su fe deben trabajar juntas.

Violencia doméstica es una problema para las persona que no vivir con integridad sobre sus acciones. No es posible para un Cristiaño a seperar los acciones a sus puños de las palabras a sus bocas.
